Get ready to break out the flower crowns, the hair braids, and your inner free spirit because the weather is getting warmer, and the festival season is upon us!

As you're getting prepped and ready, whether it's getting your outfit together or planning for the weekend, make sure you're taking care of another festival need – your skincare. Yes, it may be a second thought, but when you're out under the hot sun, dancing, and sweating, chances are, you'll expose your skin to all sorts of issues that could cause harm without you even knowing.

So, take these tips into account to keep your skin healthy, happy, and glowing all summer long, no matter what the festival season has in store for you. Here's what you can do during and after your day out to make sure your skin is protected and nourished:

(Wood)Stock up on your Sunscreen!

We couldn't start off a skincare tips and tricks list without mentioning the ultimate holy grail: SPF!

Sun protection is the most crucial skincare regime during the festival season in the summer. It doesn't matter how amazing your outfit is—if you're not protecting yourself from UV rays, it can lead to longer-term damage. The sun can be powerful, especially in the desert or countryside, so sunburns are no joke. So, trust us, sun care is more than just a duty to beauty.

So make sure you are applying a strong sunscreen regularly throughout the day and wear at least an SPF 30 (although 50 or higher would be best!). Apply it all over your body, no matter how much (or how little) clothes you plan on wearing for the day. Cover as much of your body as you can; we're talking face, arms, legs, torsos, and every little bit in between.

Be sure to bring your sunscreen everywhere you go and reapply every couple of hours. If you can (and it doesn't clash with your outfit), wear a hat or other sun-protective clothing, and stay under a shaded area whenever possible.

Drink a Lolla(palooza) Water and Moisturise your body

Staying hydrated is a big part of keeping your skin healthy during the summer months. It's even more vital when you're in the middle of a desert, where the wind is dry, and the heat and humidity can be mightyIn addition, as mentioned above, the sun can cause severe damage, especially when you spend all those hours dancing and moving around. So on top of wearing SPF, you also need to hydrate and moisturize to keep your skin soft and supple.

When you're out at the festival, make sure you carry a water bottle with you to keep yourself hydrated and prevent heat exhaustion. Dehydration can make you feel nauseous and dizzy and may even cause harm to your skin, which can eventually lead to rough patches and early signs of aging.

Moisturizing helps keep the skin protected from peeling and drying out during hot weather. Plus, if you're planning on wearing makeup, body glitter, or paint, thirsty skin will leave you looking uneven and cakey – which isn't cute. So when you're getting ready, rub in a lightweight moisturizer on your face and body before applying any makeup or body paint. If you're prone to oiliness, use a non-greasy formula that goes on smoothly and absorbs quickly – like our Aloe Coconut Body Lotion.

Don't Forget to (Bonna)Roo-move your Makeup with a Double Cleanse

You've just returned from a festival, and you're exhausted. But - before you even think about posting that adorable group photo with your girlies or crashing on your bed – head straight to your bathroom and remove your makeup! Even if you are tired and can barely make it through your entire skincare routine - if anything, make sure at least wash your face...twice.

Between the sweat, dirt, and glitter, you need to keep your skin clean, particularly if you're going to a several-day event and need to reapply makeup the next day. Unfortunately, using a makeup wipe won't be enough. You'll need to do a double cleanse to ensure everything comes off.

It's exactly how it sounds: cleaning your face twice. Removing sweat and grime with two cleanses (instead of just one) gives your skin a better chance of removing all the impurities. We know it seems excessive, but it's one of the most effective ways to prevent your pores from clogging up or your skin from breaking out. Future you will thank you.

You'll need to remove any surface products for the first cleanse, like makeup, glitter, paint, and even sunscreen. You can use an oil cleanser (if you have dry skin), a cleansing balm (if you have oily skin), or micellar water (If you have sensitive skin). If you can't get everything off in the first cleanse (because we know how much pain-removing glitter can be), the second cleanse will make you clean anything else you missed. For the second cleanse, use a mild water-based face wash like our Hydrating Face Cleanser to help clean your face without stripping your skin's natural barrier. If you want to take it further, use our Petal 2 ultrasonic cleanser for deep, effectively clean, and gentle exfoliation.

Plan a Post-Recovery Skincare for Tomorrow(land)

You probably haven't slept much in the last few days, but that's nothing a little bit of self-care can't fix. Sure, you had a blast—but your body is wrecked. We know you've had a busy weekend: tons of dancing, staying up late, and enough partying to keep you going until next year. But don't forget to take it easy when all the festivities are over. After any festival, it's essential to take time to take care of yourself and give your body and skin a well-deserved post-festival rest.

As mentioned earlier, hydration is key for a festival weekend. So keep drinking plenty of water (and take some pain killers if needed) and eat plenty of nutritious food. If you do happen to catch a slight sunburn, apply some After-Sun Care, like Aloe Vera, to soothe any discomfort and rebuild broken skin. Continue to use a rich moisturizer or body oil on the skin to make sure your skin heals properly.

Finally, give yourself a spa day if you need that little extra TLC. Apply a hydrating mask, and draw a relaxing bath with Epsom Salt to soothe sore muscles. Then, sit back and relax as you cherish the memories of an unforgettable weekend.  roseskinco skincare
